$2,500 Donated to City of Greer Police Cops for Tots

The Citizens Building and Loan (CBL) Charitable Foundation has given $2,500 to the City of Greer Police Department’s Cops for Tots program. This contribution is to assist in the purchase of Christmas gifts for the underprivileged children in our Greer community.

“On behalf of the Greer Police Department, I want to thank CBL for once again donating to the Greer Cops for Tots Program. We are extremely grateful and proud to be serving with CBL in partnership with our community,” stated Sgt. Jeff Smith.

Cops for Tots started over thirty years ago with two detectives who saw a family in need and provided Christmas for them. This program is now one of the largest outreach projects in the city reaching hundreds of local families each December by providing Christmas gifts for children who otherwise would have nothing to open on Christmas Day.

Smith shares, “There are a lot of stories I could tell about this program and the impact that it has had on me and my family.  However, one child stands out above the rest. My most vivid memory was a time providing a child with cerebral palsy a bicycle. The smile on that child’s face is something that I will always have etched in my mind. Some may ask why give a bike to a child that has trouble walking, and my anwer is simple. Who are we to stand in the way of a dream?”

“Community outreach is about people, and what a wonderful way to share love, support and joy than to provide for these families,” said CBL CEO & President Jennifer T. Jones. “We are always thrilled to be part of Cops for Tots.”
