The Citizens Building and Loan (CBL) Charitable Foundation granted $5,000 to the Middle Tyger Community Center.
Middle Tyger Community Center (MTCC) is a nonprofit organization located in Lyman, SC that has been providing services and resources for children, families, and people living in Spartanburg County since 1998. MTCC offers support services to empower individuals and families to break the cycle of generational poverty and move toward stability. MTCC is able to provide a wide range of services including: support for pregnant and parenting adolescents, GED and adult literacy classes, counseling services; crisis-relief and emergency food, senior services, and high-quality child care and early education services.
“We are so grateful for this grant from CBL that will help us continue to adapt to meet the ever changing needs around us,” said Haley Grau, Middle Tyger Community Center Executive Director. “Partnerships like these are the only way that we can offer quality services to build a healthier community.”
The CBL Charitable Foundation Grant will go to support the mission of the mental health and counseling services at MTCC. These services are offered to children, individuals and families on a sliding scale, ensuring that counseling is affordable for anyone who requests counseling services which is on the uptick since going through a pandemic with an average of 400 sessions per month. Through the work of the counseling program, MTCC also serves foster families with innovative play therapy sessions as part of the program.
